BMI Hosts Spring Management Conference

Nashville was packed with multiple conferences during the week, but from April 27 to the 29th, Book Manufacturers Institute held the attention of its attendees with smart education on a variety of topics. The Book Manufacturers’ Institute is the only graphic arts association in North America that focuses on the Book Manufacturing market. The members of BMI have been providing leadership, council, and direction to companies who make up the Book Manufacturing supply chain for over 85 years. At this conference, emceed and hosted by Matt Baehr, BMI Executive Director, an essential presentation covered the issue of tariffs and potential impacts to several facets of the book manufacturing industry, including the cost of machines, replacement parts, and consumables.

Workflow and production methods presentations provided insights into the range of author arrangements, sales ecosystems, and production workflows in use among members. Some are printing to inventory while others are printing to order and immediate delivery. Representatives from Tecnau, Standard Finishing, Muller Martini,  Magnum Digital Solutions, and Book Automation / Meccanotecnica presented their latest hardware innovations, while Solimar Systems, Canon, SpencerMetrics, and Bronte offered insights for workflow.
