Canon Enhances imagePRESS V1000 with Productivity, Sustainability, and Usability Upgrades

Canon introduced improved toner-based production printing with a suite of upgrades to the imagePRESS V1000, its high-performance color press designed for commercial and in-plant print providers. Building on the success of more than 700 installations across EMEA, the V1000 now incorporates new hardware and firmware features that enhance speed, reliability, and usability. Among the key upgrades are a new vacuum-fed paper deck, previously available only on the flagship V1350, and expanded compatibility with long-sheet handling accessories such as the Plockmatic LCT XL. Together, these improvements enable more efficient handling of heavier and longer substrates, opening up new opportunities for applications such as landscape booklets, tri-fold brochures, and gatefolds.

The V1000 also introduces a redesigned operator interface for the PRISMAsync print server, featuring a larger 21-inch panel for clearer workflow visibility and streamlined operation. Canon has also strengthened its cloud-based e-maintenance functionality, reducing downtime and enabling remote diagnostics—an especially valuable advantage for customers in geographically dispersed or remote locations.

The latest upgrades reaffirm Canon’s dual commitment to performance and sustainability. The imagePRESS V1000 now carries the highest INGEDE certification for de-inkability, confirming that its output can be efficiently recycled. Its FOGRA 51 certification assures exceptional color accuracy without sacrificing productivity. In daily production environments, the press continues to prove its reliability. The Dutch organization UWV, for example, utilizes five V1000 presses to produce 2.5 million pages monthly, consistently delivering within tight five- to six-hour production windows.

Gary Stockenstroom, Product Manager for Production Printing at Canon South Africa, commented, “We continuously look to offer technology improvements that result in greater workflow efficiency and productivity. With these enhancements to the imagePRESS V1000, we’re reaffirming our commitment to the toner-based production print market and to customer-driven innovation.” Available immediately through Canon’s direct sales organizations and accredited channel partners, the enhanced imagePRESS V1000 underscores Canon’s ongoing investment in high-quality, sustainable digital printing solutions that bridge the gap between offset and digital production.
