Cheshire Anilox Technology Ltd. has been acquired by Daetwyler Group, marking a strategic step in Daetwyler’s ongoing growth strategy and reinforcing its leadership in the global printing industry. The transaction brings Cheshire’s anilox roller expertise into a group already well known for pressroom-critical technologies.
Daetwyler said the acquisition strengthens its product portfolio by adding anilox rollers, a core component in flexographic and other printing processes. The move complements the group’s existing businesses, including Daetwyler Swisstec AG, a global leader in doctor blades, and Rotoflex AG, which develops and distributes inks and coatings for flexible packaging and security applications.
“Our in-depth understanding of processes has been the basis of our success for decades,” said Ralph Daetwyler, Group CEO of Daetwyler. “Through this acquisition, we are expanding our technological expertise and creating tangible advantages for our customers. It is an important step in reliably meeting future requirements and actively driving the development of the industry.”
Cheshire will be integrated into the Daetwyler Group as an independent company. The entire workforce and the existing corporate structure will remain in place, ensuring continuity for customers and employees. According to both companies, maintaining Cheshire’s operational independence allows it to continue building on its specialist knowledge while benefiting from Daetwyler’s global reach.
“The integration into Daetwyler’s global sales structure is an important step for Cheshire,” said Sonia Arcos, Managing Director of Cheshire. “Together, we can open up new markets and expand our expertise with anilox rollers, doctor blades, inks, and coatings in a targeted way.”
Cheshire’s primary markets are currently the UK and the European Union. As part of the growth strategy following the acquisition, the company’s know-how will be used to gradually establish local anilox roller production in the United States, which represents the largest market for anilox technology. This expansion is intended to improve customer proximity and service levels in North America.
Daetwyler described the investment as a milestone that further strengthens the group’s position as a unique competence center for the pressroom. By combining anilox rollers, doctor blades, inks, and coatings into a single group, Daetwyler and Cheshire said they aim to act as a trusted, strategic partner for printers worldwide, delivering integrated, high-quality solutions to meet evolving production demands.
