Flint Group Publishes New Whitepaper on Navigating Food Packaging Ink Regulations

Flint Group launched a new whitepaper to help print and packaging professionals navigate an increasingly complex regulatory environment for food packaging. Titled Managing Changing Food Packaging Regulations with Advanced Ink Technology, the publication follows strong market interest generated by the introduction of Flint Group’s Flexocure LEAP ink system.

The whitepaper provides an overview of evolving global and regional legislation affecting food packaging safety, with particular attention to the incoming German Printing Ink Ordinance. It explains how ink and coating selection play a critical role in minimising migration risk and maintaining compliance, positioning ink technology as a key factor in future-proof food packaging production.

Central to the paper is Flexocure LEAP, which Flint Group describes as a breakthrough UV Hg curing ink technology. Engineered with a new resin system that stabilises photoinitiator compounds, Flexocure LEAP significantly reduces the risk of migration while simplifying migration testing. According to Flint Group, this delivers measurable efficiencies for converters while supporting the highest safety standards.

Pierre Dogliani, technical director, narrow web Europe at Flint Group, said the whitepaper and Flexocure LEAP reflect the company’s commitment to helping customers prepare for regulatory change. He noted that the technology is designed to meet and exceed emerging food packaging requirements, enabling printers to deliver safe, compliant, and high-quality packaging as regulations continue to evolve.
