In 1844 the famous author Hans Christian Andersen said, "To travel is to live." As travel was a rare and exclusive pleasure of the past, Hans Christian Andersen did not only experience traveling, but even more all the amazing experiences you discover while traveling. Hans Christian Andersen found inspiration for his fairytales from different cultures, the diversity he met, and without comparison, this is what I like about traveling.
Today traveling has become a commodity and, unfortunately, not a very pleasant one unless you can afford the much-needed upgrades when flying. However, just like Hans Christian Andersen, the inspiration is vast, and visiting people worldwide inspires me - quality, creativity, business, and everything in between.

Grafische Groep Matthys. Matthys has specialized in cold-foiling, and with the UV-overprint capabilities, you can clearly see the result of the effort. Typically cold foils are silver or gold. The colors and effects you get from overprint and various varnishes. Cold foil is even a relatively inexpensive process that gives your customers an amazing effect for everything from packaging to covers - to practically all the applications you can think of!
We will be visiting Matthy's in May and look forward to seeing more samples. Matthys is a sub-contractor company, so if you need cold foils with overprint, you can choose to work with them. You can also achieve a similar effect by buying paper already foiled, which also works with digital print!
If you are looking to invest in cold foil, there are a few suppliers in the market. We've seen the Vinfoil solution on a Koenig & Bauer machine, but even better filmed an Eagle Systems solution (also on a Koenig & Bauer Rapida 106) from
TPC packaging in Tennesee.
