Label materials specialist Herma launched the digital GreenGuide, a new online tool designed to help packaging manufacturers, label printers, and brand owners choose sustainable self-adhesive label materials tailored to their specific packaging. Available on Herma’s website, the GreenGuide allows users to explore options for nine common packaging types, including PET bottles, flexible and fibre-based packaging, glass, aluminium, and reusable containers.
By selecting a packaging type, a sustainability goal (e.g., recyclability or reduced resource use), and a preferred material category, users receive a list of compatible face materials, adhesives, and liners. “The range of sustainable self-adhesive materials is growing continuously, and we are expanding our portfolio all the time,” said Milos Kojic, head of B2B marketing at Herma. “Many label printers and users are asking which sustainable materials are best suited for their packaging. The GreenGuide delivers clear, comparable answers in seconds.”
To ensure practical results, the GreenGuide only displays combinations of materials and adhesives that are available and compatible for real-world applications. Herma plans to expand the tool to include regulatory guidance, including forthcoming requirements under the EU Packaging Regulation. The GreenGuide is freely accessible online and requires no registration, making it an easy and reliable resource for those pursuing sustainable packaging solutions.
