Kodak continues to redefine digital print performance with its advanced PROSPER inkjet press portfolio, designed to deliver exceptional productivity, print quality, and application versatility. As digital printing gains momentum in the commercial and publishing sectors, Kodak’s continuous inkjet (CIJ) technology is helping printers meet market demands for shorter lead times, reduced waste, and consistent high-quality output that rivals traditional printing methods.
Leading the range is the KODAK PROSPER 7000 Turbo Press, the world’s fastest inkjet press, offering unmatched productivity and flexibility. With three print modes, Turbo, Performance, and Quality, the press allows users to balance speed and resolution for every job. Turbo mode excels with low-ink coverage applications, Performance mode suits books and medium-coverage projects, while Quality mode produces vibrant brochures, catalogs, and magazines. “The PROSPER 7000 Turbo stands out for its exceptional speed, which lets us go for longer runs,” said John Place, CEO of Mercury Print Productions. “Thanks to this high productivity, we can meet the growing demands of customers for shorter lead times and on-demand manufacturing.”
Complementing the flagship press are the PROSPER 6000 C and P Presses, proven workhorses running up to 300 meters per minute (1,000 fpm) on uncoated stock. “The lines on quality are getting blurred,” said Patrick Murray, President of Japs-Olson Company. “When you look at the quality, the PROSPER 6000 continues to impress.” The PROSPER ULTRA 520 Press completes the lineup, offering offset-class image quality and consistent performance at full speed on all supported papers. Available in two configurations, the ULTRA P520 for commercial and publishing work, and the ULTRA C520 for high-coverage applications like direct mail, catalogs, and books, the press ensures maximum efficiency without compromising quality.
At the heart of every PROSPER press is Kodak’s continuous inkjet technology, which produces a steady stream of precisely controlled ink drops for superior accuracy, color consistency, and reliability. Unlike drop-on-demand systems, CIJ virtually eliminates nozzle clogging, allowing 24/7 operation with minimal maintenance. Kodak offers two CIJ variants: Stream Inkjet Technology, which powers the PROSPER 7000 and 6000 series for ultra-high-speed printing, and ULTRASTREAM Technology, used in the ULTRA 520 Press to achieve the highest levels of detail, color fidelity, and resolution.
Kodak’s proprietary EKTACOLOR and KODACHROME Inks, manufactured using micro-milled water-based pigment formulations, expand the color gamut to match up to 93% of Pantone colors while ensuring fast drying times, even on coated papers. Combined with Kodak’s adjustable near-infrared drying and OPTIMAX Primers, printers gain the flexibility to print on virtually any substrate—without pretreated papers—at reduced energy costs. “With Kodak’s water-based inks, we get high quality, low running cost, and superior productivity,” said Ed Zumbiel, President of Zumbiel Digital.
Durability and sustainability are core to Kodak’s approach. Built for 24/7 performance, PROSPER presses feature rugged construction and are supported by long-term service agreements. Kodak also offers a printhead refurbishment program, enabling customers to return used printheads for restoration and reuse, reducing waste and extending component life.
