Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. entered into a strategic collaboration with Adobe to deliver a new pre-press embellishment workflow technology known as Project Goldsmith by Adobe. This partnership aims to simplify and automate one of the most complex areas in print production, designing and preparing files for special effects such as foiling, varnishing, and raised print finishes. The joint initiative underscores both companies’ shared commitment to advancing digital print innovation and making premium embellishment more accessible and efficient for the commercial, industrial, and packaging print sectors.
Traditionally, adding embellishments to printed materials requires extensive coordination between designers and print service providers, often involving manual file adjustments and variable workflows across different equipment. Project Goldsmith by Adobe removes these challenges by automating the process of job preparation and generating production-ready files with precise embellishment data. The technology reduces human error, accelerates production times, and increases profitability for print service providers by transforming hours of manual setup into minutes of automated processing.
The new solution will be available across Konica Minolta’s embellishment portfolio, including the AccurioShine 3600 with iFoil One option, JETvarnish 3D 52L, JETvarnish 3D Evolution, JETvarnish 3D Web 400, and AlphaJET. “We are excited to collaborate with Adobe to elevate and streamline the creative process for designers and the print professionals who bring their embellished visions to life,” said Frank Mallozzi, President, IPP, Konica Minolta. “Embellishment is no longer a niche—it’s a mainstream expectation. As the only manufacturer to offer both CMYK printing and inkjet embellishment technologies within a unified portfolio, we’re committed to making digital embellishment more accessible while delivering exceptional value and impact.”
Mike Scrutton, Director of Print Technology and Strategy at Adobe, added, “Konica Minolta shares our vision to make it easier for brands to adopt embellishment, and theirs are some of the first devices we have integrated with this solution. We are excited to join them at their PRINTING United Expo booth, where attendees can experience a live demonstration of the technology in action.”
Visitors to Konica Minolta’s PRINTING United Expo Booth #5200 will be able to see the workflow firsthand, with Project Goldsmith by Adobe integrated into live demonstrations featuring the AccurioPress C14010S high-speed toner press and the AccurioShine 3600 with iFoil One digital embellishment system. While the solution will not yet be available for purchase at the show, its debut signals a major step forward in automating and expanding the creative possibilities of digital print embellishment.
