Kyocera Corporation has introduced a groundbreaking inkjet printhead engineered to handle high-viscosity materials, a capability previously out of reach for traditional inkjet technology. This innovation is powered by Kyocera’s new piezo actuator structure and an optimized fluid channel design, delivering stable jetting of materials with viscosities up to 80 mPa/s and droplet sizes 20 times larger than those supported by earlier systems. Applications now within reach include advanced manufacturing, additive processes, and automotive decorative coatings—areas where precise material placement and reduced waste are critical.
The development is part of Kyocera’s broader strategy to advance sustainable manufacturing by enhancing material efficiency and reducing labor-intensive steps like masking in painting workflows. “By enabling inkjet to work with challenging materials, we’re creating a new frontier in digital manufacturing,” said the company. This milestone strengthens Kyocera’s position in industrial inkjet and reflects a long-term commitment to sustainable innovation across manufacturing sectors.
