Print.de reports that Kabel Premium Pulp & Paper is filing for insolvency. The Hagen site had been the site of paper production since 1896, but operations seem to be stopped due to a lack of orders. Kabel specializes in the production of lightweight, coated printing papers and wood pulp, running two paper machines and an annual production capacity of 450,000 tons producing high-quality, wood-containing graphic papers used in both offset and gravure printing.
The Kabel mill had been part of the Finnish Stora Enso Group since 1990. In 2016, Kabel was carve-out and became an independent company again under the name Kabel Premium Pulp & Paper GmbH. According to the company's 2023 Environmental Report, the company shares are held by "two family offices in Hanover."
