Peabody Press Sets Record Revenue with Konica Minolta’s AccurioJet KM-1e

Peabody Press, a family-run Baltimore printer with more than 70 years of experience, has expanded its capabilities by installing a Konica Minolta AccurioJet KM-1e digital inkjet press. Known for its wide range of services—offset, flexo, digital, large-format, letterpress, and mailing—Peabody saw the KM-1e as a strategic step to boost efficiency and unlock new applications. “The large sheet size has unlocked exciting new opportunities – we’re producing more books and variable-data projects than ever before. In fact, work for one of our university clients has increased by 150 percent thanks to this press,” said Derek Smoot, Owner of Peabody Press.

The 29.5-inch sheet-fed LED UV inkjet press delivers offset-level quality without the makeready or drying time, producing vibrant, stable color across diverse substrates. Peabody reports faster turnaround times, higher output, and its best revenue year ever since installation, with minimal downtime. Frank Mallozzi, President, IPP at Konica Minolta, praised the achievement: “They’ve leveraged the press to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions that enhance client satisfaction through faster turnaround times and seamless integration with their existing technologies.” For Peabody, the KM-1e has not only elevated its production capabilities but also spurred further investment in finishing and bindery equipment.
