Roland DG Enhances TY-300 DTF Printer for Higher Throughput and Production Stability

Roland DG Corporation introduced technical and performance updates to its TY-300 Direct-to-Film printer, targeting apparel decorators operating in demanding, high-volume production environments. Announced from Hamamatsu, Japan, the enhancements focus on increasing uptime, stabilising white-ink performance, and reducing operator intervention, key factors for DTF workflows running across multiple shifts.

A central upgrade is the doubling of the TY-300’s white-ink reservoir capacity. White ink is a critical and resource-intensive component of DTF printing, used for both opacity and underbases, and the expanded capacity significantly reduces refill frequency. Combined with uninterrupted ink circulation, the update supports longer continuous print runs and minimises downtime caused by ink-out conditions, improving overall production efficiency.

The TY-300 retains its high-speed performance, delivering up to 10.9 m²/h in standard mode and 17.48 m²/h in high-speed mode. Roland DG said this equates to nearly 50 percent higher productivity than comparable DTF systems, enabled by a dual-printhead configuration, optimised firing control, and efficient drying, which support stable CMYK plus white output at high coverage levels. Advanced colour management, including True Rich Color technology, enhances tonal smoothness, colour consistency, and grey balance, while the four-channel white architecture improves opacity and fine-detail reproduction.

Reliability enhancements include updates to the printer’s automatic maintenance system, featuring continuous ink circulation, scheduled head-refresh routines, and user-replaceable components designed to minimise downtime. These measures stabilise white-ink flow during idle periods, reduce clogging and purging requirements, and extend printhead life, supporting predictable performance in shared production environments.

“DTF continues to evolve at remarkable speed, and we know our customers rely on stable, high-performance systems that can sustain heavy production workloads,” said Ryugo Nimura, Executive Officer, Global Sales and Marketing Division at Roland DG. He said the upgrades directly address throughput, uptime, and ink stability, ensuring the TY-300 remains a reference platform for production-grade DTF printing.

The TY-300 operates as part of an integrated DTF ecosystem, combining VersaWorks RIP, certified films and powders, optional shaker and dryer automation, and Roland DG Care support. Roland DG said the unified approach simplifies setup, reduces compatibility risks and supports apparel producers scaling into higher-volume DTF operations. The updated TY-300 will be available globally from 7 January 2026 through Roland DG subsidiaries and authorised partners.
