Sacchital Installs World’s First SCREEN Truepress PAC 520P for Paper-Based Packaging

Sacchital Group, a leading Italian manufacturer of flexible packaging, installed the world’s first SCREEN Truepress PAC 520P, becoming the global pioneer in digital inkjet printing for paper-based flexible packaging. The installation, supported by SCREEN’s Italian distributor REM srl, represents a significant leap toward sustainable packaging alternatives that reduce plastic use and meet the European Union’s upcoming Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).

Founded in 1945, Sacchital has long been recognized for innovation and environmental responsibility, serving industries such as food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. “As the market shifts toward sustainability, we wanted to be at the forefront,” said Alberto Palaveri, Executive Board Member at Sacchital and CEO at Åkerlund & Rausing. “The SCREEN Truepress PAC 520P allows us to offer a digital solution for paper packaging that is flexible, competitive, and eco-conscious.”

The Truepress PAC 520P uses water-based inks compliant with the highest European safety standards, making it ideal for recyclable, heat-sealable paper packaging. It enables rapid turnaround—orders can be completed within 48 hours—and supports the growing need for short runs, SKU diversification, and reduced waste. Yukiyoshi Tanaka, President of SCREEN Graphic Solutions, described the installation as a milestone: “This marks our entry into digital flexible packaging and reinforces our mission to drive sustainable innovation.”

Compact and compatible with existing workflows, the Truepress PAC 520P integrates seamlessly into production environments, allowing converters to adopt digital printing without major infrastructure investment. For Sacchital, the new press expands design flexibility and speed to market, offering a powerful tool for brands transitioning to circular, low-impact packaging solutions.

Sacchital and SCREEN plan to collaborate on new applications and market opportunities that demonstrate the potential of digital printing to transform sustainable packaging worldwide.
