At the recent FTA Technical Conference, SOMA made history by delivering the first-ever remote, offsite flexo press run via live feed from its Flexo Xperience Center. The session, part of “Proof in Print Teaching FIRST 7.0”, highlighted how measurement and verification are central to consistent, high-quality flexographic printing—key principles of FTA’s FIRST methodology.
Led by SOMA’s Garrett Taylor and PPC Flex’s Bob Coomes, the live SOMA Optima2 press run gave attendees a real-time view into data capture, analysis, and corrective action. “We’re not saying something is wrong—we’re showing why it’s wrong and how to bring it back to spec,” explained Coomes, emphasizing the value of seeing process control in action.
“Measurement and verification are essential for print quality and process control, and FIRST 7.0 provides the roadmap—it just needs to be followed,” Coomes added.
