Southern Champion Tray (SCT) has boosted its folding carton production by installing the HEIDELBERG Boardmaster, part of a $60 million investment in a modern, automated facility. The new press, which replaces a 25-year-old system, offers twice the productivity with speeds up to 600 m/min and advanced features like AI-controlled Intellimatch scanning and non-stop job changes. “HEIDELBERG's Boardmaster has changed that and exceeded our expectations—not only in terms of efficiency, but also in terms of print quality and ease of use,” said SCT CEO Brian Hunt.
Serving food packaging markets, SCT is now better equipped to meet rising demand for sustainable, customized solutions. The Boardmaster also supports HEIDELBERG’s integration of Solenis barrier coating technology, enabling eco-friendly alternatives to plastic. “We are operating in attractive growth markets with our solutions,” noted Dr. David Schmedding, HEIDELBERG’s Chief Technology & Sales Officer.
