The Corona Virus effect — is #drupa2020 in danger?

Up to date worldwide more than 300 top-events are canceled. Even Facebook canceled its most important conference in early May 2020.

I don't want to panic. But if you take the development without panicking for serious, it becomes clear that the #drupa2020, which is now still over 100 days away, has to face unexpected challenges.

  • The Geneva International Motorshow has just been canceled.
  • And in Berlin the ITB International Tourism Exchange is on the brink.

Several important aspects arise:

  1. At present, not only organizers, but also governments are pulling the emergency brake. And intervene when it comes to mass gatherings of people. The well-being of the individual is more important than economic interests.
  2. Travel is restricted – and it is not foreseeable when this can be lifted. In addition, the supply chains are interrupted in all possible areas.
  3. The economy is expecting enormous losses. Important production elements from China and South Korea are not available.

What does that mean?

The automotive industry was the first to respond, relocating product presentations and promotions to the Internet, as the industry magazine HORIZONT just announced in Germany.

Would that also be an alternative for the print industry?

If so, then everyone here needs to become highly professional. To date, many suppliers and printers have barely been able to communicate adequately on the web and, above all, via social media in order to address customers convincingly and impress them effectively.

I'm interested in how you think about it. Let's talk about it! On-line!
