New (Laetus) barcode integration, mixed inks and a step feature in PDF generator to be found at booth 11657 at Printing United
CHILI publish, creator of market-leading software for smart artwork and marketing material creation, unveils the latest and most important label and packaging update - CHILI publisher 5.7. Based on user feedback and specific requests from the label and packaging market, this version includes the best barcode generation to date, a mixed inks feature that combines different processing steps into one color and a step feature in the PDF generator that optimizes workflow procedures. Visitors can experience the new features and view the Adobe® Illustrator® plug-in on demo at booth 11657 at Printing United, happening October 23 – 25, 2019 in Dallas.
Laetus and PDF417 barcode generation
The pharmaceutical industry will be able to transform the sustainability of their packaging infrastructure with the newly introduced support for GS1-compliant barcodes. They can now design and manipulate pharma code 1 bar Laetus codes, connecting them directly to their PIM system, ensuring products are tracked and traced with full confidence once they leave the production line. The enhanced barcode integration also extends to the inclusion of PDF417 barcodes, a feature that businesses operating in transport and logistics and those working in government-connected organizations will find the most value.
Mixed inks
Another feature requested by users, is the addition of mixed ink color swatches. For those involved in the design of packaging or labels in any market, sector or industry, the ability to mix multiple processing types into one color is essential to ensure correct separation. It provides the flexibility needed to manage the overprint and knockout of objects in the most intuitive way. Users can now finally combine one or multiple CMYK colors with a spot color in one time-saving go, enabling them to both print a colored shape or piece of text with an additional layer (such as white ink, varnish or bevel).
Step implementation upgrade
The ‘step’ feature in the PDF generator now supports data-sources, allowing every instance of the design to be uniquely variable on the final printing sheet. It does so by allowing users to draw information from VDP (data source production) to create large quantities of similar labels with all the variable changes they need. This feature optimizes the print process within the design process, eliminating additional workflow steps and additional imposition tasks. CHILI publisher users have spoken, and the globally recognized name in templatization has listened, introducing powerful new tools designed to empower packaging and label creators in multiple markets and sectors. Increased automation and time saving were at the heart of these new changes, enabling CHILI publisher adopters to avoid needless manual intervention and increase productivity in the business-critical world of packaging and label production.

“We’re as passionate about packaging, labeling and the use of smart templates as our users, and that means delivering a solution that’s ready and willing to evolve with the demands of those designers and prepress teams. We’re only going to improve by keeping our finger on the pulse of deep technical issues and commercial roll-out, and our latest update reflects that mantra more than ever. Our team is ready to show these new features in demo documents on our demo portal during Printing United.” Kevin Goeminne, CEO CHILI publish
“CHILI publisher is shaped by its diverse and ever-growing user base, and it’s their unique requests and needs that drive every new update to the platform. Our people know what designers and prepress teams in packaging and labeling are struggling with, and it’s our job to help alleviate that stress by delivering enhancements that take away the cost and time-consuming need for manual intervention. Our community continues to drive us forward, and the latest update reflects that with our improved barcode integration, color registration support and ‘step’ labels.” Ward De Langhe, Chief Technology Officer at CHILI publish
