Durst Integrates GMG Color Management into Workflow and Smart Factory Ahead of Printing United 2025

Durst Group has announced a major step forward in digital production by fully integrating GMG’s spectral color management technology into its Durst Workflow software and Smart Factory portfolio. The solution, which will debut at Printing United 2025 alongside the company’s Open Software Initiative, ensures automated, media-neutral, and highly consistent color output across substrates and printing systems. Existing customers with active software agreements will receive the new integration at no additional cost, extending value across Durst’s key market segments: labels and packaging, corrugated, and sign and display.

The GMG integration also becomes a cornerstone of Durst’s Smart Factory architecture, which forms the foundation of the Open Software Initiative. By embedding GMG technology, Durst is not only advancing color automation but also setting a new standard for best-of-breed collaborations in an open production ecosystem. “This marks a first real-world example of a true best-of-breed integration in the spirit of our Open Software Initiative,” said Michael Deflorian, Director Business Unit Software & Solutions at Durst Group. “It underlines our ambition to deliver the best software solutions on the market – not just for Durst customers, but for the entire print industry.”

For GMG, the partnership demonstrates the value of pairing two innovation-driven leaders in the print sector. “The integration into the Durst Workflow and Smart Factory architecture enables a consistent, media-neutral production process – a real gamechanger for the market,” added Darrian Young, Global Partnership Manager at GMG. With this milestone, Durst solidifies its role as a provider of connected, end-to-end solutions for digital production while advancing the open, cross-platform principles of its Open Software Initiative.
