Less than five months after launching its ‘AI Empower 25’ program, Koenig & Bauer has significantly expanded its internal AI adoption, achieving over 30% workforce engagement—well above the industry-standard 20% threshold that signals widespread implementation. The initiative, supported by Google’s AI tools and over 460 trained “AI Champions,” aimed to empower employees with hands-on training and resources to integrate AI into daily operations. This cultural shift was further cemented by over 120 internal training sessions and 88 AI use cases submitted by staff, reflecting a company-wide transformation in mindset and capabilities.
To celebrate this success, Koenig & Bauer introduced the ‘Innovation Award’ for the first time in its 200+ year history. The award recognized standout AI-driven projects such as the 'Industrial Nexus' platform—developed by non-coders using Gemini AI—which enables digital workflows in production, and an AI tool that automates the creation of training documentation from video and handwritten notes. These projects were selected by leadership, peers, and even the AI itself, showcasing a unique, inclusive evaluation process. As part of its ongoing commitment, Koenig & Bauer plans to compile successful use cases into a central knowledge hub and support continuous learning to deepen its digital transformation across all departments.
