Kyoto, Japan · By Editor Morten B. Reitoft
Think Smart Factory is an event, where it's all about showing equipment and applications. We like this approach, because however much we talk about applications, solutions, and market, we must not forget that technology is what drives this industry forward - as well. Today Jan Majnik and I arrived in Kyoto in Japan where the event takes place from November 11th-13th. Shortly after I came to Kyoto, I walked the short walk to Miyako Exhibition Center. Weather is fantastic, and though I believe this is my 10th time in Japan, I can't help watching the people curiously, listening to the sounds, and smell the smells, and immediately in love (again) with Japan. My favourite place on earth.
At the Miyako Exhibition Center, there is more than one event at the time, not because it's a huge exhibition centre, but more because all events, including Think Smart Factory, is quite small. Of course, all exhibitors were busy setting up the equipment and getting ready for tomorrow where the event starts at 11 AM.
What makes Think Smart Factory stand out from most other events like this is that its a show about equipment. It's about how machines can work together. It's about how workflow ties the hardware into extremely automated and productive machines, and at the Think Smart Factory, you can choose to see end-to-end solutions for books, for saddle-stitched products, for DM's, etc.
This is an event where you can talk to the engineers, and get under the motor-helmet to gain a deeper understanding of how everything works.
We will daily deliver a show-report similar to the ones we usually do at events. Still, we will, of course, also do more in-depth interviews with some of the very exciting people that are participating.
Besides presenting the equipment, and the software, there are many great opportunities to see great applications, but there is also a scene from where a range of speakers will share their insights with the audience. Some we have already covered on INKISH like Alon Bar-Shany from HP Indigo, but let's see if we get the chance to talk to even more nice people during the next days.
Stay tuned as usual, and look forward to an intense covering here on NEWS as well as on TV.
Gear, gear, and gear.
Loads of applications.
Great opportunities to learn.
