I have during the past five years, many times been appreciating all the amazing moments I get to experience with INKISH. The people, the companies, the countries, and cities, broaden your perspective so much and gives me an insight I couldn't have obtained any other way.
These days, Jan Majnik, Henrik Klem Lassen, and I are in Israel to visit different companies. Israel is as most people know in the printing industry a technology hub for the printing industry, but it's in all aspects and amazing place. When you arrive in Israel, you immediately see that this country differentiates from the surrounding neighbours. The fields are green, the infrastructure as complex as in Europe and the US, the investments are on pace with UAE, and you experience a country that has a will to perform, and delivers on most measures.
They have two focus areas DTG (Direct to Garment) and DTF (Direct to fabrics). At Kornit we spoke to VP & General Manager Direct To Fabric Danny Gazit. You will soon see the full interview with him on INKISH.TV, but he gave us an insight into an exciting market - the textile market.

The market is gigantic, and the impact on this industry exceeds everything. In a time where most populations have a strong focus on the environment, the textile industry accounts for 20% of industrial water pollution. The environmental footprint of the textile industry is vast, and if this wasn't the only problem, the industry sees 30% of the clothes produced are never sold. Another 30% only leaves the shops with a discount. A garbage truck worth of textiles is landfilled or burnt every second.
Danny Gazit explains how different technologies today are used to print and dye different substrates, and of course, he also explains why the patented technology that Kornit delivers in his opinion is the solution to many of the problems.
In short, with digital production, the excess stock can be reduced and reduce the environmental impact; however, it's even better, since the Kornit solutions don't use water at all (except for a fraction used to rinse the sticky-transport-belt inside the machine). The Kornit solution is also able to produce smaller quantities, better quality, ultimately new applications, and with a capital cost that enables a quite complex and broad range of potential customers - some less obvious. It's easy to think of customers who already produce textile products. It may also be evident that online retailers might be interested in commercial-scale production, that have a small footprint as well as being operated by only one operator. Still, even the garment/substrate producers might be interested in selling enriched products, rather than handling over the enrichment to printers, and converters. The Kornit go-to-market strategy seems to open up for entirely new business models - and that's in a market that grows, and that is still profitable, according to Gazit.
The technology is truly amazing, and the quality is fantastic as well. This is according to Danny Gazit, unique for Kornit. Remember, all the Kornit production is delivered directly on un-treated textile, meaning time-saving, energy-saving, and again, strictly without the use of water.
In the film, Danny Gazit talks more about the technology - so stay tuned. Truly great day, with some great people at Kornit.
